restaurant rooftop Marais Paris

Bonnie - SO/Paris

Taking in the view to discover Paris and the Marais from a unique rooftop perspective: this is an experience that promises to combine visual and culinary delights. Imagine yourself comfortably seated at an elegant table, your gaze lost in the urban horizon where zinc rooftops, chimneys, gothic spires, and the reflections of the Seine mingle. These elevated restaurants invite you to savor exceptional moments where the plate competes with the panorama. No matter the season, a dinner under the stars or a sunny lunch above the rooftops of Paris promises unforgettable memories. Here are my four favorite addresses for a truly elevated culinary escape… Where both the view and the plate are a delight.

1. Au Top – Acte II : I: panoramic & gourmet overlooking the Marais

  • 93 rue Vieille du Temple, 75003 Paris
  • Saint-Sébastien-Froissart (ligne 8)
  • around 50€ per person

Only the initiated know about this hidden restaurant perched atop a discreet building on Rue Vieille du Temple. Au Top – Acte II truly lives up to its name. Here, the light and inventive French and Mediterranean cuisine is elevated by the setting. Savory mezzes with fresh herbs or grilled fish with seasonal vegetables—each dish exudes conviviality and freshness.

And what about the view? Behind the glass ceiling, an awe-inspiring perspective unfolds: the dome of Saint-Paul Church, the chimneys of Paris, and in the distance, the familiar silhouette of the Centre Pompidou. The perfect spot for a sunny lunch or a dinner under the stars. I love bringing my loved ones here to leave them speechless.

2. La Table Cachée du BVH –  Michel Roth’s secret haven

Nestled on the rooftops of the BHV, discreetly hidden behind the green curtain of the lingerie department on the 5th floor, La Table Cachée is a place I discovered with great excitement. This exclusive gem perfectly combines the elegant cuisine of Chef Michel Roth with an utterly unexpected setting. Every detail seems designed to offer an intimate and authentic culinary experience, highlighting French terroir with delicately crafted seasonal ingredients.

What particularly impressed me was the warm atmosphere, which complements the picturesque view of the surrounding rooftops, not to mention the terrace offering a unique perspective of Rue de Rivoli. When it comes to flavors, let me assure you, you’re in good hands. The modern French cuisine, made with fresh ingredients and impeccable technical mastery, is a true delight. Whether for a refined lunch after a shopping spree or a romantic dinner for two, this place is a little gem to savor.

3. Le Tout Paris, at La Samaritaine – the art of celebrating Paris

  • 8 quai du Louvre, 75001 Paris
  • Pont Neuf (L7)
  • Lunch menu from Monday to Friday at 95€

Yes, I admit it, I’m cheating a little, because Le Tout Paris is located on the 7th floor of the iconic Cheval Blanc hotel at La Samaritaine, just outside the Marais. But honestly, what a view! This contemporary brasserie, crowned with a Michelin star, offers a breathtaking panorama of the Seine’s quays, the Île de la Cité, and even the Eiffel Tower. If you have an important event to celebrate, this is definitely where I recommend making a reservation. I’m always impressed by the finesse of the menu, which strikes a perfect balance between classic Parisian dishes and touches of international inspiration. You might, like me, begin with a delicious homemade terrine, followed by a truffle chicken supreme or delicately prepared fish.

My little secret? Come at sunset, order a glass of champagne, and let yourself be swept away by the magical atmosphere. In my eyes, this is one of the most romantic spots in Paris.

4. La Tour d’Argent: the duck, the view, the legend…

  • 15, quai de la Tournelle, 75005 Paris
  • Maubert-Mutualité (ligne 10)
  • Lunch Menu (4 Courses) at 160€

It’s hard not to mention La Tour d’Argent, a gastronomic institution that has ruled Paris for over four centuries. This legendary place, steeped in history, is a true reference for connoisseurs of fine dining. While its famous duck à l’orange, prepared according to a secret and legendary recipe, and its exceptional wine cellar attract gourmets from around the world, it’s also – and I must insist on this – for the spectacular view it offers. From its large windows, you are faced with a living painting: the gently shimmering Seine, the gothic spires of Notre-Dame, and the rooftops of the Marais stretching endlessly.

I still remember the first time I laid eyes on this panorama. The sight, almost surreal, took my breath away. And on the plate, the magic continues. If you’re looking for a truly unforgettable experience, La Tour d’Argent offers a sensory journey that I can only encourage you to try. A Michelin star, after all!

« What about the others ? You may be wondering why I haven’t recommended other places with equally spectacular views, such as the top of the Centre Pompidou, the Institut du Monde Arabe, or a trendy new rooftop hotel in the Arsenal district… Granted, their panoramas are breathtaking. But let’s be honest: for their price, they lack the culinary quality and attentive service I cherish so much. I’m open to reconsidering them once notable improvements have been made. In the meantime, I’ve marked these restaurants on my map for you. On this site, discover my top restaurant picks around Place des Vosges, as well as those on Île Saint-Louis!
