Anne's Terrace - Pavillon de la Reine
Eating in a restaurant around Place des Vosges? Very good idea: there are few places as charming and emblematic as the Place des Vosges. As a resident of Marais, I love to start my day there, enjoying a coffee on the terrace with a newspaper, and returning later for a drink or an aperitif in this unique atmosphere. For this, I have my habits under the arcades of the " Café Hugo , Of " Ma Bourgogne , Of " La Place Royale", from the tea room of the " Cour des Vosges " but especially in the secret and charming courtyard of the Café Mulot of the Maison Victor Hugo. But, let's be honest, when it comes to eating well, I happily move away from crowded terraces to find places full of character (while regretting the interminable wait for a table " Chez Carette " or the unequal service of the Serpent à Plume or the Royal Turenne). Whether in the heart of the square or in the adjacent streets, far from the hustle and bustle sometimes disappointing experiences in terms of quality and price, other tables promise memorable moments. Follow my advice!
So here are my favorites, affordable options to masterpieces of French haute cuisine.

Anne's restaurant, one Michelin star, is nestled in the enchanting setting of Pavillon de la Reine overlooking the Place des Vosges. This exceptional venue combines elegance and intimacy, providing an ideal setting for romantic dinners or special occasions. Under the direction of Michelin-starred chef Mathieu Pacaud, the menu offers modern and creative cuisine, enhancing local produce with contemporary culinary techniques. I was impressed by the attention to detail, from the delicate flavours to the careful presentation of the dishes, not to mention the impeccable service. A culinary experience that combines audacity and refinement. Truly great art!

Le Bistrot de l’Oulette is a real institution and one of my must-visit addresses in the neighborhood. This bistro offers Traditional Southwestern dishes perfectly mastered, such as a duck confit, melting as you want, or subtly prepared sweetbreads. Here, fresh and seasonal products are at the heart of each creation, with a menu that changes according to the markets. TheThe atmosphere is warm, almost familial., while the service, always impeccable, adds a discreet elegance. Special mention for their fine selection of wines, ideal for enhancing your dishes. A typical gourmet stopover of the Marais which will seduce you.

This one is my favorite Italian, a real one-way ticket to Italy, nestled in a quiet street near Place des Vosges. As soon as I entered, the warm atmosphere, the authenticity of the place and the friendliness of the staff won me over. On the menu, the must-haves: homemade ravioli, melting osso buco, generous antipasti, and my favorite, the grilled octopus, always perfect. The dishes, prepared with exceptional ingredients often imported from Italy, are a hymn to the dolce vita. The desserts are not to be outdone: airy tiramisu, creamy panna cotta… Every detail enhances the experience. An unmissable Italian address. Buon appetito!

neighbor of Bistrot de l’Oulette, the Angel 20 is another little gem that I particularly like. Nestled in a peaceful alleyway just a stone's throw from Place des Vosges, this restaurant with intimate charm offers cuisine that combines tradition and creativity. From the dining room, you can see Thierry and his team working hard to prepare generous and tasty dishes, such as the seven-hour lamb fondant, a real marvel! The friendly and warm atmosphere almost gives the impression of dining at a friend's house, with direct exchanges with the kitchen. The wine list, rich in fine French references, perfectly completes the experience. An authentic address with very good value for money.
To complete this selection, it is impossible for me not to mention L'Ambroisie, the only restaurant in Marais proudly displaying three stars in the prestigious Michelin Guide. An institution at the top of French haute cuisine! I must admit, to my great regret, that I have not yet had the opportunity (especially the means) to test this legendary address. But, given its impeccable reputation and unanimous praise, I would not hesitate to recommend it to you with my eyes closed. If you have the chance to go there, prepare yourself for an exceptional culinary experience. Reservation required via www.ambroisie-paris.com.
